Hi, I have a problem. The turbo is gone. I have excluded it but there is still a lot of oil going into the exhaust. Can I close the turbo oil feeding tube or will other engine components be damaged by the lack of oil? I need a reply asap. I'm some 200km away from home. Thanks.
Turbo oil feed line only goes from back of the block directly to the Turbocharger and drains back into the sump. So no other components involved. The engine will run with turbo taken off, but will be loud (no exhaust) and will get false MAF readings. Maybe it´s possible to remove turbo and intercooler but connect airbox or at least MAF sensor to intake manifold to limp it back home. There will not be much power over 1500rpm
Ok, great. Be sure to check for leaks regularly (a lot of oil pressure on that thin line). But if you do a temporary fix like that , you´ll be alert anyway Pictures need to be uploaded to an external host first before you can link them here.
The drive was not so bad. I could easily drive at 90/100km/h. The problem was driving uphill. No power and a lot of smoke. Even at low rpm. That means that the turbo starts working at really low rpm.
